Generations

When cleaning out my dad’s garage I found a box full of old family pictures we had taken from my grandma’s house after she passed away; I was tasked with going through them and I began to realize I did not know who most of the people in the images were, they were my family, but also complete strangers. In this series of images titled Generations, I aim to recreate the experience I went on while looking at these images, to show the viewer how the stories of my family began to come together. I want to show how these images helped me connect to my family members despite never meeting some of them. I want to show the journey of these pictures from old and worn out in a forgotten box in the garage to images of Great Grandma Helen when she was a child.  This series documents my exploration into my family’s past as I learn about those I never met through images.
